This will include monitoring long-term system performance and recommending upgrades/replacements for improved performance, directing others in how best to utilize the control systems, and developing strategies on how to improve and maintain all the control systems. He is responsible for ensuring all safety rules and practice specified by the company are strictly followed in maintenance work. One of his important responsibilities is continuously enhancing the safety awareness of his people. Providing equipment, training and anything else necessary to have safety in all areas of the maintenance work is something he needs to keep in mind all the time. He must work hard to avoid accident in maintenance work. The engineer has a key role in controlling part purchase cost by correctly determining what parts and equipment need to be ordered. The position needs to provide assistance in terms of instruments and parts selection as well as vendors and costs. He must be able to adequately assess needs versus available resources in determining whether outside contractors are to be used.
